Single-Storey House Design Project
The single-storey house project was developed to explore contemporary architectural design principles while considering practical and aesthetic requirements. The aim of this project was to create a functional, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing living space that meets the needs of modern homeowners.
Design Concept
This house is designed to balance simplicity and functionality, integrating indoor and outdoor living spaces. The concept revolves around creating a fluid relationship between the home’s interior spaces and its natural surroundings. Large windows and open-plan areas enhance natural light and ventilation, promoting energy efficiency and comfort.
Site Analysis
The house was designed for a flat suburban site, with easy access to main roads and public utilities. The design takes advantage of the site’s natural features, with a north-facing layout to maximize natural lighting. Sustainable landscaping and outdoor areas were incorporated to blend the house with its environment, providing privacy and aesthetic value.
Space Planning and Functionality
The floor plan includes essential areas such as a spacious living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, and bathrooms, all laid out in a compact and efficient manner. Emphasis was placed on creating versatile, multi-functional spaces to suit the changing needs of the residents. A seamless connection between the interior and a small garden area provides a refreshing environment for relaxation.
Aesthetics
The house design embraces clean, modern lines with neutral color palettes and minimalist finishes. The materials used include a mix of natural wood, concrete, and glass to offer a timeless, sophisticated look. The design is intended to be both stylish and practical, with a strong focus on comfort.
Sustainability
Sustainable design features were central to the project. Energy-efficient materials, passive solar heating, and a rainwater harvesting system were integrated to minimize the house’s environmental impact. The open layout allows for natural ventilation, reducing the need for artificial heating and cooling systems.
